Orlando — Georg Lendorff

Frankfurt Opera – Orlando

Opera by George Frideric Handel at the Opera House of the Year

For the 2023 production of Orlando at the Frankfurt Opera, director Ted Hufmann and set designer Johannes Schütz pursued a rigorous but also enriching reduction of the staging and the production design to the basic means of light, colour and spatial constellations. Georg Lendorff's projections, which accompany most of the evening, oscillate between abstract forms and pictorial elements, shadow images of nature and the human body.

And so one thing adds to the other in this entertaining and delightful evening: stage design, light and shadow play, costumes, character direction, dance, singing and orchestral playing at the highest level. Everything is well thought out, tastefully coordinated, wonderfully balanced. A true Gesamtkunstwerk.
